STAFF Maybe it’s the Afrikaans outlook/attitude that lets them down. The casino is a bonus for those so inclined with a few good full service specialty restaurants an expensive Hard Rock Cafe but lacking the missing cafe type snack cafe that was here originally that catered for families wanting a snack and not an expensive full service meal Now for why only a 3 star rating. The rooms are dated but well maintained, serviced and clean. The pool is massive well laid out with a great bar and food. The resort is excellently laid out with superb ground maintained meticulously with beautiful lawns and gardens, palms and walking paths overlooking the Gary Player Golf Course. This resort could well regain a 4 star rating but for the following points I will cover later. Review Sun City Resort Soho Hotel (3 Stars)*** (stayed 16th Nov – 24th Nov 2022) Room 108 Ground Floor Superior Room Let me start by stating this is our second stay here the last being September 2012 This was excellent and gained a 4 star rating at that time. Generally we recommend, but take into account the hotel status does not reflect really a 4 star hotel. The Spa (in the Gray country club) was also not bad. the free entrance to the hotel guests to the waterpark is very good for kids as well. The maze is to our experience a little overrated, the food court and restaurants were perfect. Enjoyed a lot waking around the hotel- very nice walking trails through the golf courses and also up the mountain through the forest and the waterpark up until the “Palace” a nice adventure, also for teenagers. This was something that we enjoyed a lot, but beware of monkeys trying to get into the rooms searching for food.
I highly recommend a room with exit directly to the ground floor. However the hotel premises needs deep overall renovations, starting from the pool that must be repainted and cleaned from the moss, the elevator that for the whole week we were there was not working, the holes in the corridors ceilings, the bathroom sink that needs opening and cleaning of the pipes (the water went through very very slowly), the sockets that needs to match todays USB ports or att least European/international plugs etc.
Hotels near Latsatsi Conferencing CentreĪlthough some reviews here complained about the service, we must admit we had a very good experience with the service, maybe because we are foreigners (and there were not many non South-Africans when we were there).
